A fine and important early map of Melbourne showing the city grid of Hoddle's plan layed out on a wooded site, plus early settlers huts and infrastructure. The map is notable as a record of natural features of the site since erased or reconfigured by development of the metropolis, including the 'Yarra Yarra River', The Falls (dynamited 1883) located at the Turning Basin, wooded area, wetlands and tea tree scrub, and the original track (probably of indigenous origin) to the beach at Port Melbourne.
