Creator Gould's Mammals of Australia (1845-1863)
Date 1863
The Dingo (Canis familiaris dingo) belongs to an ancient lineage of dog, believed to have been brought to Australia from the East Indies about 8,000 years ago. It's habitat covers most of Australia and Tasmania. The dingo holds a significant place in the lives and mythology of indigenous Australians, for whom the dingo is a domesticated companion and hunting dog.
