Plan of early Canberra showing early development, including the first built areas and roads of the Griffin Plan (recently gazetted in 1925), with a detailed 'Key to References' of sites and landmarks. 'Streets and roads shown in red are open for traffic. Those shown in red stipple are under construction... Areas filled in in blue are already settled'. Schools, parks, playgrounds, churches, guest houses, hospital are shown along with points of interest such as: 4. Site for Permanent Parliament House' on Camp Hill; 19. Causeway Hall (Pictures twice weekly); 23. Manuka Picture Theatre; 24. Manuka Shopping Area (under construction); 25. Blandfordia Prize Design Cottage; 31. Site, Miniature Zoo; 35. Acton House, Canberra's oldest building'. Griffin's proposed 'Continental Arboretum' is shown. There is a proposed site for a 'National Sports Area' in the ANU, a 1920s precursor to the Aust Institute of Sport. A fascinating informative map.
