Creator Blaeu Joan 1596-1673
Date 1664
The Blaeu family were leading cartographers of the Dutch golden age, operating in Amsterdam. This elegant world map shows the Dutch discoveries around Australia, New Zealand and New Guinea following Abel Tasman's voyages of 1642-1644. Decorative mythical figures representing Spring, Summer, Autumn & Winter can be seen along the bond, and along the top of the map cartographers dwell in the clouds with other celestial gods.
