Scenes of colonialism and ethnic stereotypes frame a triumpant Queen Victoria, who is depicted as Athena, resting on a globe which is carried on the shoulders of Atlas (who represents the empire's command over 'human labour'). Indigenous figures represent the subjugation of India, Africa, Canada and Australia British territories are shown in pink, linked by trade and immigration routes.
