Date 1789

A fine map showing the origins of European settlement in Mosman Bay, where the First Fleet vessel the HMS Sirius was careened, 'repaired and refitted', in 1789. The sheltered deep water anchorage and nearby freshwater creeks made a first-rate site for a wharf, and later a base for whaling ships.
