An excellent map showing Sydney in the heyday of trams. It is said that Sydney's tram network was the biggest in the Southern Hemisphere, and with 2,500 vehicles, it was the second largest in the Commonwealth after London. Most of the great shopping streets of Sydney such as Pitt St, Oxford St, King St and Military Rd, were built up along tram corridors, which were conducive to a lively pedestrian scene, before being choked by the era of motor cars...This map shows tram lines and stopping places, railways, steamer & ferry routes, and principal government buildings. It includes a legend and list of coloured signs displayed on front of tram motor.
