Lake Burley Griffin, Canberra, A.C.T.: approximate water depths and notional foreshore development. The ambitious landscape master plan for Canberra's centrepiece, Lake Burley Griffin which opened in 1964, is one of the great achievements of the NCDC, enjoyed by visitors and residents of Canberra today. The proposed bridge from Yarralumla to Black Mountain Peninsula, a critical link in the Commission's traffic planning, was never built.
