Endangered...John Gould’s lavish publication, Birds of Australia, was the most ambitious and finest ever published of Australian birds, included a staggering 681 large folio sized plates, 328 of which were species new to science. The illustration work by Gould’s wife Elizabeth and H.C Richter are magnificent and charming works of art as well as highly accurate ornithological studies.
